A zoo has just launched the donation of domestic animals to feed the wild beasts he hosts. “Are you ready to give your horse to serve as food?” ยป, Can we read on the Aalborg Zoo website in Denmark.
The horses delivered will be slaughtered to be served as food for different carnivorous animals present in the zoo. A few days ago, the institution had disseminated a message on social networks calling on the public to also donate hens, rabbits or guinea pigs in order to feed its predatory animals.
Invoking animal welfare and professional integrity, the zoo indicates that it has the responsibility to copy the natural food chain for animals detained in captivity. Any healthy pet is therefore accepted. “In this way, nothing is lost and we thus guarantee natural behavior, quality nutrition and the well-being of our predators,” said the Aalborg zoo, in Denmark.

Here are the methods as explained on the zoo site. Your pet will be delivered alive to the Aalborg zoo, where it will be euthanized by a healer and a veterinarian, then cut. The Aalborg zoo receives the animal, as a horse for example, as a donation and, as a owner, you can benefit from a tax deduction corresponding to the value of the animal. Just provide your civil identification number and/or your business number during the deposit. The value of the horse is calculated at 5 Danish crowns per kilo.
