It was a little before 4 p.m. that the child was discovered but it was already too late. He was found in cardiopulmonary arrest. “The child died after being forgotten in the car exposed to the sun and the heat,” soberly commented on the Aix-en-Provence prosecutor Jean-Luc Blachon.
The circumstances in which the child was discovered are not known. The father’s vehicle was parked in the military grounds of the Istres air base.

The father was placed in police custody and an investigation was opened for manslaughter.
