Teams from the Universities of Neuchâtel and Besançon have collaborated to write a Franco-Swiss legal dictionary. The book, for which around sixty lawyers have made a contribution, addresses aspects such as euthanasia, collective dismissal, building permits or criminal sanctions.

“The idea of this book appeared to us in October 2023, when we organized a cross -border meeting, which brought together teachers and doctoral students in order to discuss our common research themes. We then found that we were all jurists and that however, it was sometimes difficult to understand each other, “said Valérie Dédégo, dean of the law faculty of the University of Neuchâtel (unin).

“I am proud of this project, because the book was designed house from A to Z, a real teamwork,” added the professor of administrative law, quoted in the press release published on Friday. The Franco-Swiss legal dictionary has a hundred legal terms, documented and deciphered by Swiss and French lawyers, from the unin and that of Besançon, the University Marie and Louis Pasteur.

To all audiences

Valérie Dédégo and her French counterpart, Béatrice Lapérou-Scheneider, intend to ensure continuity for this project, by proposing a free access digital version, with regular updates. The financing of the work, named “The words of others-the right on both sides of the border between Switzerland and France”, was provided by the community of knowledge and the association of Franco-Swiss cooperation Archurassian.org.

The book, which is aimed at all audiences, is published this year on the sidelines of the 50th anniversary of the twinning of the cities of Neuchâtel and Besançon. To celebrate the release of the book on Friday at L’Unine, a meeting is planned with the authors, in the presence of political figures. (JZS/ATS)
