A deadly mountain accident occurred Thursday in the canton of Appenzell Rhodes-interior. Help could not do anything.

A 58-year-old hiker was the victim of a fatal accident Thursday afternoon in the Alpstein. For reasons still unknown, the Swiss, who knew the premises well, has stumbled and descended a slope, said the cantonal police of Appenzell Rhodes-interior in a statement published on the night of Thursday to Friday
The hiker was on the road with an accompanying person. Despite the immediate assistance of his companion, the rescuers could only note his death.
The accident occurred in a mountain meadow. The two hikers wanted to descend above the “widderalphütte” to the refuge. The exact cause of the accident will be clarified by cantonal police on mandate of the Appenzell Rhodes-interior public prosecutor. (JZS/ATS)
