An American soldier accused of having tried to transmit to Russia information on a tank
A young American soldier was arrested on Wednesday for trying to provide Russia sensitive information on the main tank of the United States Army, the Ministry of Justice said.
Taylor Adam Lee, 22, must be prosecuted to have “Trying to transmit classified information secret-defense on the vulnerability of an American tank to someone who is suspected to be a Russian intelligence agent, in exchange for Russian citizenship”said in a Romanesque statement Rozhavsky, deputy director of the Federal Police Counter-Esation Service, the FBI. “Today’s arrest is a message for anyone who plans to betray the United States, in particular civil servants who have taken the oath to protect our homeland”and Martelé M. Mihavsky.
The soldier Lee, originally from the border town of El Paso, between Mexico and Texas, served in this southern state in Fort Bliss. He would have sought to transmit technical characteristics to the Russian Defense Ministry on the Char M1A2 Abrams, according to the Ministry of Justice. The tanks that Washington delivered to Ukraine in September 2023 to combat the Russian invasion were the previous model, M1A1 Abrams.
The young man would have given a memory card filled with documents to a person whom he thought was a representative of the Russian government, during a meeting in July, said the ministry without revealing more.
