The rescuers resulted on Monday a lifeless body at the Testa del Leone above Zermatt in Valais. The victim has not yet been identified, the Cantonal Police Valaisanne police said on Wednesday.
(Keystone-ATS) Italian mountain emergency services discovered the body of the person during a research operation shortly before 4:00 p.m. Monday in the Testa del Leone region on Swiss soil, it can be read in the press release. The Italian mountain help then informed their Valais colleagues and the cantonal discovery police.
The intervention forces then recovered the body using an Zermatt air helicopter, at an altitude of about 3,300 meters. The Testa del Leone (3715 meters above sea level) is a border crest between Switzerland and Italy.
The formal identification of the victim is underway. The public prosecutor has opened an investigation to clarify the progress of the facts. Two mountaineers died in Valais as well as a paraglider last weekend.
