A Swiss adept of the paragliding, aged 74, lost his life on Tuesday in the region of Fiesch (VS). The causes of his accident have not yet been established.
(Keystone-ATS) Around 4:45 p.m., the septuagenarian lost control of his paraglider before falling into the Weisswasserbach river, near a bridge, in the center of the Fiesch village, specifies the Valais cantonal police in a statement released on Wednesday.
Witnesses of the scene immediately gave the alert. The Cantonal Valais Help organization quickly dispatched a helicopter, an ambulance, rescue specialists, mountain and aquatic rescuers, as well as a health intervention chief. However, the emergency services could only note the death of the pilot.
During the incident, a person was also slightly injured and transported to the Viège hospital. The public prosecutor of the Confederation (MPC) has opened an investigation in collaboration with the Cantonal Police Valaisanne.
