A 12 -meter plane was involved in a collision at Southend London airport, the Essex police announced on Sunday, referring to “a serious incident”, without reporting an immediate victim.
“We are still at the scene of a serious incident at Southend airport,” she wrote in a statement, saying “working with all emergency services” on site.
She says she was alerted shortly before 4:00 p.m. local time (3:00 p.m. GMT) for the presence of this 12-meter plane, on fire, on the Southend-On-Sea site, east of London. No assessment has yet been communicated by the authorities.
Images broadcast on social networks show a small plane in flames and a thick black cloud. According to the BBC, the plane, a Beechcraft B200, crashed shortly after taking off from this airport.
Southend airport is located 65 kilometers east of London near the city of Southend-on-Sea. It is the sixth London airport in order of importance.
