We also contacted Vinted Press Service, which sent us the following answer:
“We encourage our members to download visuals faithfully representing the items they put on sale. This is essential to guarantee an experience of trust between sellers and buyers. The use of generation or retouching tools, including those based on artificial intelligence, must in no case mislead or falsely embellish the appearance of an article.
If an article received is substantially different from that presented in the advertisement, buyers can use our buyers’ protection, who may include a refund in such cases. More generally, we closely monitor the developments linked to the use of AI by our members in order to ensure that these practices remain in accordance with the rules of the platform.
The use of AI as a visual improvement tool (for example, to blur the background of a photo) is not prohibited in itself, as long as it respects our general conditions of use and does not compromise the transparency of the transaction. On the other hand, fraudulent practices, such as misleading ads or online laying of nonexistent articles, are strictly prohibited and can cause concrete measures, including the deletion of ads or accounts.
In accordance with the rules of the Vinted catalog (which are part of our contractual general conditions), members are not allowed to offer items sold as dropshipping products.“
According to the SPF Economy, “the Dropshipping is a form of electronic commerce where online retailers (dropshipper) offer products on their webshop that they do not store themselves. If you place an order on the Dropshipper Webshop, it will send it directly to its supplier, which will in turn send it to you.“
