The Spanish government has decided to criminalize the dissemination of false sexual videos generated without the consent of the people concerned by artificial intelligence. This bill must be voted by the congress.
The Spanish gendarmes announced this Sunday, July 27, investigate a 17 -year -old teenager who shared photos and videos of his naked high school comrades generated by artificial intelligence online and tried to trade in it.
Sixteen students from a high school in the Valence region, in eastern Spain, on the Mediterranean coast, reported the use of “their image modified by AI, both on social networks and on a website” in order to “sell this type of content”, said the civil guard in a statement.
The latter received the first complaint as part of this case in December, when one of the young girls reported the creation, without its consent, of an account in its name on social networks.
You could see “a video created using artificial intelligence” and “manipulated” photos in such a way that the people who appeared there appeared “completely naked”, according to the same source.
A bill must be voted by the congress
After having recorded the other complaints, the gendarmes questioned the teenagers, the latter suspecting while “the author (facts) could be a classmate”.
These suspicions were confirmed when the civil guard obtained the IP addresses of the accounts created and discovered that they were attached to the “domicile of the one” of the students, currently prosecuted for corruption of minors.
Spain has already known in the past cases of distribution of pornographic images of minors produced with AI. In response, the government of the socialist Pedro Sánchez agreed in March to criminalize the dissemination of false sexual videos generated without the consent of the people concerned by artificial intelligence. This bill, which the government has described as a pioneer in Europe, must be voted by the Congress.
