US President Donald Trump disapproved of Canada’s intention to recognize Palestine as a state on Thursday, indicating that a trade agreement would become “very difficult” in any case.

“Wow!” Canada has just announced that it supports a Palestinian state. It will become very difficult for us to conclude a commercial agreement with them. Ô Canada !!! ” wrote the Republican on his Truth Social network.
This reaction is a response to the announcement of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who indicated on Wednesday the intention of Canada to recognize Palestine’s state in September at the UN, stressing that “the level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable”.
This statement was vigorously condemned by Israel, which denounced a “distorted international pressure campaign” coming to “harden the position of Hamas at the negotiating table at a critical time,” the Israeli Embassy in Ottawa reacted in a statement.
