A violent heart fire

An agricultural exploitation was the prey of the flames last night in Cœve, on rue du Puits. The fire took around 7 p.m. No injuries were to be deplored at a time when these lines were written. A dozen cattle, however, perished in the operation.
The surrounding buildings were saved thanks to the intervention of SIS Vendline, SIS Basse-Alline and Cris Porrentruy. Dozens of men and more than ten fire trucks were dispatched to the scene to combat the generalized conflagration of the farm and part of the family house, says Nicolas Dobler, commander of CRISP.
“We pulled pipes and spears before the firefighters arrived to protect the building and its surroundings,” said Edouard Roth, living on the scene. Farmers took turns to bring water, said other people on site.
The population was invited not to go to the affected area and to close the doors and windows, due to the strong release of smoke.
The fire reasons remain to be determined, the cantonal police say. The rue du Puits will remain closed to traffic until further notice to avoid any risk of collapse.
