Shortly after 5 am, on the night of Friday to Saturday, a reader alerted us that a “endless” chase “on the A1, near the Côte highway area. And indeed, after having been evasive because of “a complex affair”, the Vaud cantonal police communicated on Saturday evening.

Shortly after 4 hours, the Vaudoise police launched an important device to intercept a sports car circulating at more than 200 km/h on the A1 motorway towards Yverdon. The vehicle, registered in Zurich and stolen, left the road between Rolle and Gland, shortly before the bursins area, before causing fire in a field. Its driver, a 20 -year -old Frenchman, fled on foot and was arrested by the canine brigade. Slightly injured, he was taken care of by a doctor.

Violent collision with the police

At the same time, a second luxury vehicle, also with Zurich and stolen plates, was spotted in Villars-Ste-Croix. Its driver tried to escape the police by spinning at high speed towards Geneva. His race ended in the same place as the first interception, after a violent collision with a vehicle from the Morges region police. The driver, an 18 -year -old, was slightly injured and transported to the CHUV.

During the intervention, the highway had to be closed to allow the intervention of the aid and the observation. No one injured is to be reported among the police. Several criminal complaints have been filed for endangering the life of others. The public prosecutor has opened an investigation, entrusted to the gendarmerie and the Vaudoise security police.
