This recovery follows an agreement concluded between the airline and the Canadian Public Service Syndicate (SCFP), under the supervision of the mediator William Kaplan, the organization announced, by press release.
The union accepted that the approximately 10,000 on -board agents “return immediately to work”, allowing Air Canada and Red Air Canada to restart their activities suspended since August 16.
“The suspension of our service is extremely difficult for our customers. We deeply regret the repercussions of this labor conflict on them and we apologize, “said Michael Rousseau, president and chief executive officer of Air Canada.
The latter said that the resumption of full service could require “a week or more”.
“The resumption of service of a large carrier like Air Canada is a complex task,” said Rousseau. I want to assure them that everyone in Air Canada is doing everything possible to allow them to take place on a flight soon. ”
The first flights are expected to take off on Tuesday evening, but the airline warns that cancellations will remain possible for the next seven days. “During this process, some flights will be canceled until the schedule is stabilized,” said it.
Air Canada recommends that its passengers check the condition of their flight on its website or application before going to the airport.
Travelers assigned by cancellations may obtain a full refund, a credit for a future trip or reservations transferred to another carrier.
