Air Canada and its on -board agents are preparing to resume negotiations

The Air Canada Component of the Canadian Public Service Syndicate (SCFP) said that the two parties planned to return to the negotiation table on Friday after its members voted 99.7 % in favor of a strike mandate.

The vote, which ended Tuesday, means that on -board agents can potentially disengage from August 16 at 12:01 a.m., with a notice of at least 72 hours.

The airline claims not to consider canceling or postponing flights at the moment, because it strives to conclude an agreement before this date, while noting a vote on a strike mandate is “a normal stage of the negotiation process”.

The SCFP also says it is optimistic about the possibility of avoiding a work stoppage, but first wishes to know the reaction of Air Canada to its proposals for salary increases and elimination of unpaid work.

The two parties have been in contractual talks since the beginning of the year, the vote on the mandate of strike which took place after the airline and the union concluded a conciliation process without achieving an agreement.
