The union, which represents the 10,000 Air Canada on -board agents, has triggered a strike on Saturday shortly before 1 hour. The air carrier will impose a lockout.
In this context, Air Canada will start to cancel flights on Thursday. Other cancellations will take place on Friday, then the service will be completely interrupted on Saturday if an agreement is not concluded by then.
The company specifies that customers whose flights are canceled will be entitled to a full refund. The lucky ones will be offered a place on a flight from another company.
The points in dispute relate in particular to the salary of on -board agents and unpaid work when the planes are not in flight.
Arbitration requested
Believing that it “does not seem that a resolution is possible in the near future”, the airline asks Ottawa to order enforceable arbitration.
The federalum did not indicate if he would intervene in the conflict. On Tuesday, Federal Minister of Employment, Patty Hajdu, called on both parties “to stay at the negotiating table until an agreement is concluded”.
