A young London student was accused of damage valued at more than 13,000 euros by the owner of the accommodation she had rented via Airbnb. The latter had generated images by artificial intelligence to support his complaint.
It is a story that comes from across the Atlantic and is reported by The Guardian. A young British student experienced a most unusual misadventure after the owner of the accommodation she had rented in New York (United States) turned against her, loud and clear that the user of the American accommodation rental platform had caused damage to the tune of 12,000 pounds Sterling (the equivalent of 13,750 euros).
Airbnb had therefore asked the young woman to reimburse more than 6,000 euros directly to the fraudulent owner, whose deception has since been unveiled and who was previously listed as “super host” on the site. The victim had reserved the apartment located in Manhattan for two and a half months in order to study, but had shorted his stay, not feeling safe in this area.
Airbnb apologizes
The American company said that the crook had received a warning for violating its conditions of use and would be canceled in a pure and simple way if a new report in this way should occur. After having denied the reality of the damage put forward by the owner, the student based in London has not shown it, until justice was done and the entoune revealed in the open.
The platform finally untied the true from the false, and initially offered compensation of 500 pounds to the young woman, then a reimbursement of 854 pounds, which she refused. Finally, Airbnb decided to donate to him all of the amount of his reservation, while deleting the negative commentary written by the owner on his profile.
