Already more than 500 kilometers of traffic jams were recorded on Saturday August 2 in the middle of the morning, according to Bison Futé, on this day classified black in the direction of departures for this traditional chased cross of the summer between Julyist and Augustians. At 10 am, Bison Futé had counted 554 kilometers of congestion on the holiday roads, corresponding to the forecasts of the public agency, which warned of traffic “Extremely difficult”.

For this first weekend in August, the main black dots are, as usual, on the A7, towards the Mediterranean, with 120 kilometers of traffic jams. Traffic was even more slowed down by the occurrence of two accidents. 55 kilometers of slowdowns were noted on the A9, also towards the Mediterranean, and 110 kilometers on the A10, leading to the Atlantic coast.

The A71, which crosses the Massif Central, is also strongly impacted, with 30 km of traffic jams, after an accident early in the morning which blocked traffic. In Ile-de-France, Bison Futé provides for traffic densification on highways A10 and A6 “As well as on the axes that converge there” like the A86 and the A6B.

Forecasts for Saturday August 2, 2025.

In the middle of the morning, the traffic time on the A7 between the south of Lyon and Orange (Vaucluse) was 4:20 instead of 1 h 35 in normal times, and from 2:45 a.m. instead of 1 h 40 between Orange and Narbonne, according to the X account of Vinci Autoruts, which manages these axes.

The alpine tunnels are particularly congestioned, with 1 h 45 of waiting time at the Mont-Blanc tunnel towards Italy and important slowdowns in the Fréjus tunnel, also towards Italy, on the A43.

The difficulties of this crossover, which must spread until Monday, had already started on Friday, a classified day for departures, from Hauts-de-France to Brittany, passing through Normandy, Ile-de-France and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Traffic was dense on Friday from the start of the morning until the middle of the evening.

The A10, A63, A11 motorways towards the ocean, and A7, A9, A61 towards the sea were very borrowed, such as the A75 and the A20 for the crossing of the Massif Central. In the middle of the afternoon, the traffic time on the A7 between the south of Lyon and Orange (Vaucluse) was at the height of 03:20 am instead of 01:35, and from 03:30 instead of 02:20 on the A8 between Orange and Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), according to the X account of Vinci Autoroutes, which manages these axes.
