A finer galaxy Watch, with an original design
As said before, the Galaxy Watch 8 has a new design and displays a round screen but a square box with rounded angles, a bit like the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It puts above all on the sobriety where the screen is positioned in relief and exceeds from the case.

Its aluminum case is particularly fine because the brand reduces its thickness by 11 % compared to the Galaxy Watch 7, which makes it the thinnest Samsung watch to date (8.6 mm). During our test, we appreciated its finesse: it is comfortable to wear and is easily forgotten, even during training. Only downside, the new bracelet system, incompatible with the previous Samsung bracelets.
On the screen side, we are entitled to a 1.34 inch round panel and a definition of 438 x 438 pixels, 327 pixels per inch for the 40 mm model. A slightly larger and better defined slab than the version of last year, but above all brighter with 3000 cd/m² in brightness peak. We also appreciate the many dial choices and the presence of an Always-On display.
A watch that makes progress on health and sport monitoring, but not on autonomy …
A panoply of sensors are available on the Galaxy Watch 8, the same as the previous version, namely an optical cardio sensor, a pulse oximeter, a temperature sensor, a barometric altimeter, an electrocardiogram or a double-frequency GPS. GPS follow -up is more precise than the previous model, as well as cardio monitoring which was improved by 11 % according to the manufacturer.
It always provides good health follow -up, but with a few additional functions such as the antioxidant index, which indicates if you consume enough vegetables to prevent oxidative stress and slow the aging of the skin. We can also cite the new “coach running” which will estimate your VMA, then offer suitable sessions to progress or the vascular load which indicates if your body is too stressed at night.
To finish on autonomy, there is no great improvement. Despite a battery of a slightly more generous capacity, the Watch 8 is struggling to reach the two days of autonomy, especially since on our side, we tested the 44 mm format which was able to hold 37 hours … The 40 mm model should therefore offer autonomy below.
