Even if an unstoppable car thief was sentenced to three years in prison, he could be released next month, because he is behind bars from his many dangerous driving episodes in 2023.
Marcy Alexandre pleaded guilty to no less than 33 charges Thursday morning at the Montreal courthouse.
The 29 -year -old Montrealer had been detained since October 2023. The police had finally managed to arrest him for having driven six times dangerously by fleeing them, in just one month.
Each time it was behind the wheel of an infinite vehicle that is strongly damaged and without license plate.
He fled
When agents tried to intercept it on motorway 15 in Montreal on September 18, 2023 because it was traveling at 125km/h, Alexandre rather pressed the accelerator and fled by driving at 200km/h and turning off its headlights.
A week later, other patrollers wanted to intercept him on a boulevard de Saint-Laurent. Again, Alexandre fled 100km/h in this residential area and burned a red light.
On a recovery, he almost hit pedestrians who were a few meters away from the police. To another, he fled aboard his infiniti by passing very close to an agent who had drawn his weapon for his arrest.
The vehicle, originally white, had just been painted in black.
The maneuvers carried out by Alexander were so risky that the police did not engage long prosecution for fear of putting citizens even more in danger.
It had earned him the little enviable first place of a compilation of Journal published last fall listing the most dangerous drivers in Quebec.
Car flights
In addition to driving dangerously, the mechanic in a Montreal car dealer was flying cars.
Alexandre was arrested on the motorway behind the wheel of an Infiniti G37 which had been declared stolen earlier that day. Police officers have found Passe-Partout and programming tools in his car on other occasions. And he admitted to stolen a luxury vehicle Alfa Romeo and two Mercedes.
During his interrogation with the police, Alexandre said “stealing cars to pay his debt to a person who threatens him”.
“I regret all these actions, I am aware of all this. I have removed all the bad frequentations, ”said Marcy Alexandre on Thursday since the accused box.
The one who is without criminal history was thus sentenced to three years in prison for all of his crimes. But as he has been detained for many months, he only has 49 days to serve.
When he left prison, he will not be able to drive for three years.
