Some 80 firefighters were deployed on the night of Wednesday to master a criminal fire in a residential building in the district of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, in Montreal.
Around 2:20 am, a call was made at 911 to point out the start of a fire in a six -accommodation building located at the corner of Frigon streets and Charles Gill, reports the relationist for the police service in the city of Montreal (SPVM) Caroline Chèvrefils.
According to initial information, a suspect was seen launching an object on the building to set fire to it, causing a fire of “second alarm”.
Such a alert level requires the deployment of additional teams, hence the high number of firefighters (80) and vehicles (33) on site.
The suspect fled before the police arrived at the fire. There is therefore no arrest in connection with this incident when writing these lines.
No one was injured by this fire.
Families living in the accommodation building were taken care of by the Red Cross.
Witnesses were met by the investigators to establish the causes and circumstances of this fire.
The investigation is transferred to the SPVM criminal fire module.
