A 4 -year -old boy drowns in the “Les Flots Bleus” campsite in Gironde

A 4 -year -old boy died on Saturday after being “unanimated” from the swimming pool of a campsite located on the side of the Dune du Pilat, in Gironde, the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office said on Tuesday, confirming information from South West.

According to the first elements of the investigation, carried out by the Arcachon police, “the child was alone at the swimming pool in the presence of his 9 -year -old older brother,” said the prosecution.

The child after “numerous attempts at resuscitation”, was helicopter to a hospital in the Bordeaux agglomeration, where his death was noted. “The investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of this death,” added the prosecution.

“Everything happened in a few minutes”

According to the owner of the campsite, quoted by South West, “everything happened in just a few minutes, while the parents were putting their belongings and the child was in the company of his 9 -year -old brother”.

The establishment’s swimming pool was closed and the festive events planned canceled, out of respect for the family, also added the manager of the Dune campsite, made famous under the name “Les Flots Bleus”, in the successful film “Camping”, shot with Franck Dubosc in 2006.

Between June 1 and July 23, 193 people died drowned in the country, + 45 % over a year, according to the public health figures France, which makes the link with increased frequentation of bathing sites “in a rather high temperatures context”.
