A couple of Canadian influencers, who has been documenting their adventures across the country for five years, would have lost their lives last week following an off-road accident in British Columbia, their loved ones announced.
“It is with immense sadness that the families of Matthew Peter Yeomans and Stacey Tourout tell you their tragic loss […] They are together forever, as we knew they would still be, ”said Colleen Tourout, the young Canadian traveler on Facebook on Monday.
It was in the “magnificent mountains of British Columbia that they loved so much” that the couple, gave up since June 2024, would have lost their lives on August 7, after having succumbed to their injuries, during an accident aboard their all-terrain vehicle, she continued.
Stacey Tourout and Matthew Peter Yeomans were followed by more than 201,000 subscribers on their YouTube and 73,800 page on Instagram, where they document their “overlanding” projects, that is to say exploration on difficult terrains, aboard vehicles which they themselves had revamped.
The duo shared his adventures, Canadian, Pan American and even international, when he had recently stayed in New Zealand.
It is not clear if the couple filmed content for their channel at the time of the accident that cost them their lives, but one of their friends, Colin Stuart, who was “by their side when it happened”, testified to “everything to save them” on Facebook.
“These were the most difficult 20 hours of my life. The most difficult decisions I have ever had to make. I’m sorry for all those affected. It is a great loss for the community of all-terrain and an even greater loss for the family and close friends of Matthew and Stacey, “he added, thanking Kaslo Sar’s research and rescue team, and all those who tried to help them.
According to Mark Jennings-Bates, head of Kaslo Sar, the accident occurred on a forest road “somewhere in the mountains”, but the team could have intervened quickly, with a helicopter, thanks to a very precise location, he told CBC.
Despite this, on their arrival, one of the people on board no longer had a vital sign, and the other would have died after transporting to a hospital center.
The accident could be due to a loss of control, the manager had advanced to the English -speaking media.
