A forest fire that has grown in the past hours has forced Lytton’s first nation to publish an evacuation order for two reserves, due to an immediate danger for the life and safety of residents.
The evacuation order aims at the reserves of Lytton 26a and Skwayaynope 26. Residents of these sectors, about 6 kilometers from the village of Lytton, must leave the premises immediately.
A reception center has been set up in the Lytton First Nation community room.
On Wednesday, an evacuation alert had already been published for properties located north of the fire.
Le Brasier, located 10 kilometers south of Lytton, on the west bank of the river Fraserwent from 4.6 to 6.5 square kilometers.

According to BC Wildfirebetter visibility has enabled a more precise aerial cartography of the area covered by fire.
The situation revives painful memories for the community, which is still in the reconstruction process after the devastating fire of 2021, which had destroyed 90 % of the village.
Smoke and flames are particularly visible since highway 1, where the authorities ask motorists to be cautious.
Thirty firefighters and four helicopters are currently mobilized to fight the fire, which would be of human origin.
