A man in his thirties was shot in the night of Monday to Tuesday in a park in downtown Montreal. The police investigation was triggered, but the author of the murder is still running.
The 30-year-old, whose identity had not been able to be confirmed by Montreal police on Tuesday morning, was killed around 0:45 am in place of Peace, a small park located near the boulevards Saint-Laurent and René-Lévesque.
According to initial information, a suspect would have fired gunshot in the direction of the victim and then flee, before the police arrive
said agent Caroline Chèvrefils, who is a spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).
When they arrived on the spot, the police and paramedics made resuscitation maneuvers on the victim, who could not be saved.
A security perimeter has been installed to protect the crime scene. The investigation will be carried out by the major crimes section of the SPVM.
No suspect has been arrested at the moment.

In the hours that followed the murder, witnesses were questioned by the investigators. The latter must also carry out checks to determine if surveillance cameras could have captured images likely to advance the investigation.
Early on Tuesday, the suspect in this case had not been pinned.
