The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday the death of a 2 -year -old boy with measles.
The child, who had not been vaccinated, was hospitalized and under respiratory assistance for several weeks.
The epidemic, which appeared in Israel about three months ago, has already touched 503 people, 187 of whom are still sick.
The majority of recent cases are concentrated in the regions of Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh.
Twelve children under the age of six are currently hospitalized. Three are in intensive care, including one respiratory support. Ten of them are not vaccinated and two cases are still the subject of an investigation.

In 2018, an unaccompanied 18 -month -old girl died in Jerusalem, the first fatal case of measles recorded in Israel for 15 years. She was one of the three Israelis who died during the 2018-2019 epidemic.
