The Swiss Safety Survey Service (SESE) recorded 2295 advertisements of incidents in transport last year, a record. Thirty-one investigations were opened
The investigation report following the derailment of a freight train in the Gothard in August 2023 particularly occupied the investigators last year, we read on Friday in the annual report. As a reminder, the SESE has issued several recommendations and security advice on this accident, for example to extend the regulations requiring to increase the diameter of the wheels.

Overall, nearly 90% of the security incidents reported in 2024 concerned air traffic. The SESE observes “a good culture of incident reports, a condition prior to improving the safety of modes of transport”.
Concern “AirProx”
The phenomenon of “AirProx” (too much proximity between two aircraft), in particular, concerns investigators. The SESE has identified six AirProx having presented a high or significant risk of collision.
In total, the air accidents whose sese had to take care of, involving aircraft registered in Switzerland, left five dead last year, in three different accidents, recalls the investigation service.
