The OAG travel data platform has identified the main technological innovations that are currently transforming the sector, and Air Canada has a special place. OAG points out that Air Canada is one of the world’s leading airlines-and the only one outside the United States-to integrate Apple Wallet’s new “Travel Hub” technology.
The Apple Wallet application is no longer limited to store QR codes of boarding cards. The new travel center, which OAG describes as a “personal control tower for your entire air route”, now allows travelers to benefit from:
– real -time flight updates directly on the locked screen;
– shortcuts to share the status of the flight, open Apple Plans for directions in the terminal or follow the luggage recorded via “Locate”;
– Integrated terminal cards with visualization of boarding doors without having to change their application.
These “smart boarding cards” promise to facilitate the course by centralizing several features. As OAG points out, this marks a change for Air Canada and the companies that adopt technology: instead of containing these services in their own applications, they now bet on the Apple platform. The idea is to free yourself from sometimes awkward applications to take advantage of more elegant and scalable solutions.
The Techno iPhone in Canada site specifies that these new features will be deployed this fall with iOS 26, MacOS Tahoe and other software updates.
Concretely, Air Canada already offered most of these features on Android.
