The last Canadian at the Toronto National Bank Omnium was eliminated in the third round by Taylor Fritz, in two rounds of 6-4 and 6-2 on Friday evening.

Diallo showed signs of nervousness early in the meeting against the second seeded. He committed two double faults and as many direct faults to allow Fritz to break his service to zero. Fritz then easily won his service to take the lead 2 to 0.

Fritz forced Diallo to play on the defensive most of the first round, holding him on the heels with powerful right strokes.

Faced with the prospect of a double breakage of the American, Diallo pushed a broken down to chain with four consecutive points, including two aces, to return to the English Channel.

Fritz’s service worked throughout the first round, but he faced his first 4-3 challenge on a BRIS de Diallo ball, his first in the match. The second seeded erased her with a powerful service to bring his advance to 5-3.

Fritz, who is 27 years old, quickly won the first commitment by relying on his service and his backdrop. The American of San Diego, California, however, only succeeded 48 % of its first bullets, but he garnered 86 % of the points on them and 76 % on all of his services.

Diallo started the second round in the service badly, waving the chances of taking the lead at 40-15. He conceded his second break to shoot from the back of a handle and a breakage. After this change of pace, Fritz went secondly, breaking Diallo for the last time and serving for the match.

Direct faults cost the Canadian on Friday. He committed 33, including six double faults, compared to 16 for Fritz.

Diallo was the last Canadian in the running in Toronto, after the surprise defeats of Félix Auger-Aliassime and Denis Shapovalov earlier this week.
