They are far away, now, the scorching days of the first week of July (37.4 ° C in Mulhouse on July 2). Since July 15, a completely different meteorological diet has been installed, marked by relatively reasonable temperatures and marked precipitation.
The Bas-Rhin department was thus placed in a vigilance rainy yellow-romance for Sunday. The two departments were on yellow vigilance thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday.
The accumulation of precipitation, without being exceptional, are starting to be “significant” in the north of the Bas-Rhin (39 mm in 24 hours in Scheibenhard, more than 30 mm in Berg in Alsace Hump). “It is a benefit for nature, the rivers were so low that there is no risk of floods,” comments Christophe Mertz, a meteorologist-revisionist at Atmo-Risk. The rains are much less marked in the south of Haut-Rhin, especially at the Basel-Mulhouse reference station.
Instability until August 6?
At the end of June-early July, the region was under the influence of hot air lifts from Morocco. Now, anticyclone well focused on Azores leaves the passage free to depressions from Iceland, Norway or British islands, generating this unstable time. The air mass is therefore “very temperate”, without generating exceptionally low temperatures – this Monday is the coolest day of the period.
This instability will still last for Alsace, until August 6, probably, with temperatures rarely exceeding 25 ° C. In total, it is starting to “weigh” on the summer results. For example, there have been twelve days of rain since early July in Strasbourg. A trend that could drag this month of July 2025 below seasonal norms on the temperature side and above the precipitation side. It should also alleviate drought. The prefecture has already reported an improvement in the situation for the Saar basin.
