The range is a reflex upon entering the Vierzon dilapidated hospital, which dates from the 19th century. The deputy director Fabrice Laurain recognizes it, it is a thermal colander. The establishment has 66 beds and as many patients currently. By 35 degrees, a fan is needed and above all cauld. Air conditioning is the absolute dream of all those who work here. The tenfold heat these days plays on morale and the quality of care.

A whole day at 35 degrees in the corridors, patience at the end of the day can be a little altered. Afterwards, we do with“, says Émilie Pierre, nurse. We must actually do with and especially without freshness.

Burmizers offer only a passenger comfort, staff tinker and install the windows of sun visors. “”In this room, you cannot lower the shutter because the shutter is broken. And there, for the moment, it is not repaired. We have a survival blanket to prevent heat from entering“explains Doctor Jonas Agbodjan, head of the medical center of the hospital center.

According to the doctor, heat can extend the hospitalization time of already fragile patients.
Victim of historic under-investment, the hospital juggles the funding of its regional health agency. “”Between the projects to be carried out, the targeted projects they finance like the block or the repair of the roofs of the EHPAD, for the rest we manage according to what we can do, and we cannot“, regrets Fabrice Laurain. Confessions of helplessness in the face of the heat wave and a deficit budget when it would be urgent.
