Apple could surprise everyone with the 2026 cuvée of its connected watches. Rumors evoke a new design and additional health sensors, but that’s not all: future Apple Watch could also integrate Touch ID.
If we should not be too surprised by Series 11 and Ultra 3 planned this year, the 2026 edition of Apple Watch promises to be much more interesting. The site Digitimes – which does not always see just – announced a few days ago that the manufacturer planned on a new design for at least one of the models planned next year (probably a high -end). New sensors arranged in the ring under the case would also appear.

The apple firm would not stop there. Of the internal code disclosed by accident indicates thatApplewould test a biometric authentication system on the watches of 2026. More specifically, there is a reference to “Applemesa”, the code name used to identify Touch ID. The code does not say how the fingerprint recognition sensor in the watch would be integrated; Under the screen, like many Android smartphones? Or in the lateral button, a bit like the iPad Air?
In any case, Touch ID on the Apple Watch would have the great merit of improving the security of user data. Currently, the Apple Watch unlocking code can be limited to 4 digits, which is far too easy to crack. Such a system would also secure sensitive operations, such as Apple Pay (just click on the side button to validate a payment on current watches).
Another indication that Apple is preparing heavy: the processor of future Apple Watch (Series 12 and Ultra 4) is identified as “T8320”. This is a change compared to the S9, S10 and the S11 chips expected this year, which share the same identifier “T8310” – which means that they are similar. The S12 could therefore ultimately bring new.
In the same genre, the 2026 range have the identifier “Watch8; “, While the Series 9, 10 and 11 also bear the same” Watch7 “identifier. This suggests that the new features will be more important than in the past three years.
