The C223 cyclostrade will connect Bockstael, to Laeken, at the old Cureghem station, in Anderlecht, along line 28, which connected Schaerbeek station to Brussels-Midi. The Cyclo-Pieton route will cross five municipalities: the city of Brussels, Jette, Koekelberg, Molenbeek-Saint-Jean and Anderlecht.
This project is part of a larger network of cyclostrades connected to other routes in the country. Between Belgica and Simonis, rue Serkeyn will be fully refurbished with a two -way cycle path, widened sidewalks and a meeting area limited to 20 km/h. Forty trees will be planted and a green space with game and sport equipment will be fitted out. The Gemba and Gisèle Halimi streets will become cycle areas where motorists will not be able to exceed cyclists.
From Gare de l’Ouest to Jacques Brel station, a separate cycle path will be installed on part of the Ninove road. Rue Verheyden will be transformed into a cycle area, and a secure crossing will be created on Boulevard Graindor to reach the rue de Glasgow. In the Park of Line 28, low -sloping access will be fitted out: a steel gateway and a background on the rue Tielemans side, as well as a path on the avenue Belgica.
The work should be completed in the winter of 2026.
