Sale of weapons in Israel
At a press conference on July 29, a non -governmental organization made up of four Propalestinian groups presented a report presenting evidence that Canada would have lied when it claimed to have suspended arms exports to Israel.
The report explains that in September 2024, cartridge cargoes left the General Dynamics factory in Repentigny, Quebec, bound for Israel, via the United States. However, nine days earlier, Mélanie Joly, then Minister of World Affairs Canada (AMC), had publicly promised that Canada has been blocking ammunition exports since the summer of 2024, especially those of this company.
Global affairs denies: In an email at FrancopresseGlobal Affairs replies: “The report refers to a certain number of shipments of articles to Israel, as well as their mode of transport. AMC cannot confirm the number of shipments or other details of the report. ”
The ministry claims that Canada currently only sends to Israel “uncontrolled training cartridges (paintball type)” which do not require a license. However, this equipment can be fatal, said the authors of the report at a press conference.
