Cantine mist | For brunch, dinner and soon more

The establishment is called Brume Cantine, but do not get me wrong, there is neither hot dog nor hamburger. With this name, it is the “very simplistic, accessible, comforting and warm side” of the place that its owner Steve Grenier wanted to put forward.

On the menu of this friendly coffee-composer of a dozen places, there are generous sandwiches during the week. The most popular? The roast in Janette, inspired by a recipe from the Grande Janette Bertrand.

The weekend, make way for brunches. The Laura Bayet chef had carte blanche to develop the dishes of her dreams – before Mistine Mistine, she liked to imagine on Instagram what she would serve if she opened a coffee. His friend Steve Grenier only made him a request: put a lunch poutine on the menu.

“I have the impression that what I do is quite classic, but with a little twist,” says Laura Bayet, about her creations, such as the Toast Omelette or the Cornbread.

Open since April, Brume Cantine, little brother of Burme Comptoir and Brume Café (formerly the mist in my glasses), quickly made its mark on the Mont-Royal set. “We already have a lot of regulars. We really had a warm welcome from the people of the neighborhood, ”rejoices the head.

The team wishes to continue to fill its customers, in particular by organizing events, such as the “Pancake Party” which took place in mid-July. “It is a project where there will always be surprises,” says Steve Grenier, who sometimes hopes to welcome guest chiefs.

From September, the opening hours will stretch certain evenings in order to offer a formula 5 to 7 … without alcohol. This “anti-scumper” will put forward varied and surprising alcohol-free cocktails, promises the duo.

Open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and weekends, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
