How Moutier is preparing his entry into the Jura for 2026
Practical guide, hotline telephone and one-stop shop: the support system is set up for the provosts.
The Republic and canton of the Jura intensifies the preparations to welcome Moutier on 1is January 2026, as announced by the State of the Jura in a press release published on August 12, 2025. To less than six months of the historic transfer, the Jura and Prévôtian authorities multiply the initiatives to facilitate the transition of the population.
A practical guide will be distributed on August 13 in all households in Moutier. Developed jointly by the provost municipality and the Jura Government, this reference document addresses the essential issues related to the change of canton: taxation, social benefits, health, mobility, schooling and administrative procedures. The authorities point out that most administrative transfers will automatically take place between the cantons of Bern and the Jura, without necessary intervention by citizens.
Personalized support and new political rights
A digital version of the guide is available on the Site dedicated to transferregularly updated and available on all supports. The municipality of Moutier has also set up a telephone hotline with the support of the Canton du Jura, providing personalized support to respond to the specific concerns of the population.
From January 6, 2026, a one -stop shop will open its doors to Moutier. This physical reception point will centralize the main cantonal administrative services and offer tailor -made support, particularly useful for people with little familiar with digital tools.
The provosts and provosts will benefit from new political rights this fall, including foreign nationality fulfilling legal conditions. These measures are part of the authorities’ desire to ensure a positive transition and to guarantee the complete integration of Moutier into the canton of the Jura.
