The city of Thetford Mines has increased by around twenty places since 2021 to rise in 5e Position of the list of places where Quebecers are the happiest, especially because of the lack of road traffic.
“Time is happiness!” Immediately launches the mayor of Thetford Mines, Marc-Alexandre Brousseau. “With us, we have time. We do not understand the people who live in Montreal to spend hours in traffic, it does not come into our heads. ”
With an index of happiness of 76.5%, Thetford Mines closes the top 5 Quebec cities where people are the happiest according to the latest probe made by the Léger firm.
During the last financial year, in 2021, the Beauceronne municipality was 25e with a score of 73.65%.
A rise which is explained by several factors, according to the mayor Brousseau, with at the top of the list the proximity of the services.
“We are a small big city: we have everything we need nearby, but without the bad sides of the big city,” he explains.
Added to the affordability of housing that has attracted its share of newcomers for a few years. “The city’s face has changed a lot,” according to the mayor Brousseau, who is advancing that around 2000 new arrivals have settled in Thetford Mines for 5 years.

“We knew a certain void a few decades ago and there, people are proud of the path traveled,” says Marc-Alexandre Brousseau. “Our industrial parks are full, people see it and notice it. We just announced [la construction] of three housing laps. “
According to him, Thetford Mines should keep his high rank in the standings, the dynamism of the city would be there for good.
“This is something that has been built in the long term,” says the mayor. “The gains are solid. We see him in good humor in people. “
