The payment of the back -to -school allowance (ARS) is not automatic for high school students aged 16 to 18. If you have a child of this age, you must declare their online schooling.
Each year parents of school children can receive, if they meet the income criteria, the back -to -school allowance (ARS). This aid perceived by three million families must allow them to finance the expenses of the start of the school year.
Its amount ranges from 423 to 462 euros depending on if the child is educated in primary school, college or high school. And its payment is automatic for eligible people, with the exception of a case that CAF (Family Allowance Fund) recalls on its site. Parents of children aged 16 to 18 must report beforehand if this young person is well educated.
This approach is compulsory to receive your ARS. Your CAF normally had to contact you recently, by email or by mail, to remind you of doing it. It is possible to do it since July 15.
So remember to do it, and don’t hang out too much because the ARS payment has started in mid-August will have started and it will be too late.
Specify the contact details of your child’s high school
Telected your child’s schooling is not complicated and will not take you much time. Just connect to your beneficiary space on caf.fr or from the “CAF – my account” mobile application.
Once connected, you will normally see an alert in red at the top of the page indicating: “To calculate your rights, we need to know your child’s situation. Please declare it as quickly as possible”. Click on it, and you will see a page appear with check boxes.
You will have to indicate whether, for the next school year, your child is enrolled in a school; apprentice; arrested his studies; is educated abroad … If he is well educated, you will also have to declare the contact details of his school.
Once this is done you just have to validate, and the back -to -school allowance, if you are entitled, will be paid to you during the month of August. Its exact amount for a child in high school is 462.33 euros. A very useful sum while, according to the UFC-Que Choisir, school supplies increased further in 2025. Of the order of 2% compared to 2024.
