A popular Montreal bar where customers have been drugged without their knowledge will have to pay a fine of $ 5. Moreover, 000, decided the Régie des alcohol.
The Nacho Libre bar already made the headlines in 2023 when the father of a 22 -year -old woman. Similarly, denounced that the latter had been addicted to the GHB twice in a few months.
At the time, the case even made Manon Massé react, who was then co-spokesperson of Québec Solidaire.
But now the involuntary poisoning. among other problems that arise in establishing rue Beaubien, have pushed the Régie des alcohol, races and games (RACJ) to sanction its owners, according to a recent decision.
We can read in this one that the police service of the City of Montreal (SPVM) intervened twelve times between June 2022. November 2024 “due to fights between drug clients without their knowledge: customers or cases of poisoning advanced by customers, whether alcohol or drugs, voluntarily or not”.
The Régie specifies that during two of these interventions, “customers mentioned having been druged without their knowledge”.

It is not known. however, whether it is new events or the same denounced by the father in 2023.
Noise. prohibited dance
The free Nacho was also the subject of noise complaints in 2022 and 2023, where the police presented themselves three times for audible music outside and drug clients without their knowledge: customers speaking strong on the sidewalk.
And even if the bar had no dance license. the SPVM noted five times that customers were dancing among others on the counter and the tables.
Despite this. the Nacho Libre filed in September 2024 a request for dance authorization at RACJ, to which the SPVM opposed due to fears that this aggravates the nuisances in terms of security and tranquility.
However. Additionally, the establishment recently agreed to recognize the reproaches of RACJ and to pay a sanction of $ 5,000 to be granted this dance authorization.
Compulsory training
Its owners, however, undertake to establish several measures. Any new employee must now undergo training in prevention of violence of a sexual nature.
The bar is also imposed on the presence of two doors at all times on Fridays and Saturday as well as Thursdays during special events
