Euro 2025: Full stadiums, mass viewers: a successful euro assessment

The 2025 European Women’s Championship is a great sporting and popular success. Here is the proof with some statistics.

It all started with some doubts about the Swiss team and the organization in their country on July 2. Euro 2025 will end Sunday evening in Basel, in front of some 35,000 spectators. For a little over three weeks, the eight host cities vibrated and the impact was continental.

A very silly example: the Swiss-Spain quarter-final was followed by more than 2.4 million people … in England! And they were 10.2 million English to look at the qualification of their country against Italy. The last game of Germany was followed by more than 14 million people on Ard. In Switzerland, the figures came close to the audiences of a victory over the Lauberhorn. Another success: 86% of supporters moved to stages with public transport, on foot or by bicycle.

According to UEFA figures, the cumulative TV audience of the event brought together 400 million viewers. By adding all the television programs around matches, this figure rises to half a billion. Forty-five million people in front of their small screens are expected for the final England-Spain on Sunday evening.

Swiss stadiums have been filled like never before. In all, they will be about 660,000 to have passed a turnstile. It is much more than the 574’875 of the 2022 tournament in England. 29 of the 31 games were disputed at closed counters. 35% of spectators came from abroad, representing 160 different nationalities! The Walks fan was also a success, 95,000 people who paraded in the streets before a match.

And what about the madness of the fan zones … According to the figures available, nearly a million spectators massaged it during the competition, from the very small in the villages to the immense city centers. What is as sure, in the right and in a less good, is that the event has left no one indifferent! And then at the security level: zero reported problem. Mad.
