Evening at the hamlet of stars: philosophy coffee, dinner and astronomical observation on Tuesday August 19

essential
A philosophy coffee, a friendly dinner and an astronomical observation under the dome of the hamlet of the stars will punctuate the evening of Tuesday, August 19.

Tuesday, August 19, the hamlet of the stars offers an evening mixing philosophy and astronomy. The appointment is set at 5 p.m. in the site hall.

At 5.30 pm, a philosophy coffee hosted by Philippe Buisine will address the theme: “Cosmos, planet, human: the three orders of physics and metaphysics”. Observe, understand, then say and tell. From science to discourse, from equation to speculation, from reason to imagination: an intellectual journey through human history, from physical description to the metaphysical interpretation of the cosmos and the human condition.

The program will continue at 7:30 p.m. with a dinner at the Hameau restaurant, followed, from 10 p.m. to midnight, an observation of the starry sky under the dome. Price: 40 € for dinner and observation. Inscriptions by email to: phats.cafephilo@laposte.net.

This evening will also offer a reflection on scientific advances and their limits. Physiology of the human body, psychology, history and structure of societies can now be described. The terrestrial world and the cosmos also deliver their secrets: galaxies counted, black holes described. But access to the deep nature of what exists remains uncertain.

An entry into metaphysics

The observation from the sky to the dome will remind you that the cosmos remains an amazing and mysterious spectacle. For a century, the laws of relativity have been offering a new understanding, but gray areas remain. Black energy, a still enigmatic concept, testifies to the current limits of knowledge.

As Hubert Reeves pointed out, “humanity is made of stars dust”. Carbon, iron or oxygen atoms, forged in the heart of stars, make up the human body and allow life. What would question: wouldn’t the universe be, basically, the universe that is thought through humanity?
