A man survived after hanging on Saturday evening outside an Austrian fast train in which he was able to ride after an emergency stop, the Austrian national railway company said on Sunday. The man had dropped from the train for a cigarette break on the quay when he left for Sankt Pölten, west of Vienna, said Öbb Herbert Hofer spokesperson.

The Railjet train, which linked Zurich to the Austrian capital, left Sankt Pölten at the time, but arrived in Vienna with seven minutes late, said Hofer.
