“He seemed to look for oil!”: Another borehole for the 3rd link near Myrand avenue

The summer of geotechnical drilling campaign in connection with the third link continues, especially near Myrand avenue in Sainte-Foy.

A week ago, in Sillery, the presence of drilling work on Rue Mont-Saint-Denis in Sillery had a surprise in the vicinity.

In the last days, another drill has attracted curiosity on rue de la Somme, a stone throwing from Myrand.

“I have never seen any paper or communication that told me that there would be a borehole. I learned that because I asked the gentleman [l’un des travailleurs sur place, NDLR]. He seemed to be looking for oil! ”Said a resident who has lived in the sector for almost 50 years.

Questions

“I asked the question: how depth do you dig?” He told me “our mandate is 200 feet.” But 200 feet is not far away. It means that the tunnel would pass close to Mosus, ”wonders the 79 -year -old man.

The citizen, who prefers not to be appointed, believes that the work is not disturbing or particularly noisy. However, he does not hide that the third link, in its current version, is in its opinion a “waste of money”.

“I would never have thought [que c’était pour le troisième lien]. I was wondering if they did not look at the aqueduct. There was water out of the road. But it is certain that it is monopolizing in a street, ”adds another neighbor encountered by The newspaperabout the presence of equipment on the street.

Not the last

Recall that the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) has been carrying out a drilling campaign since July 7 in order to “characterize geology” in the vicinity of the corridor which was selected for the construction of the new interim link between Quebec and Lévis.

More than fifty sites have been identified for the work, including around thirty on the north shore and ten in the river, but this number could fluctuate as needed.

Thursday, five sites were active in Quebec, confirms the MTMD.

In addition to the streets of the Somme and Mont-Saint-Denis, boreholes were running out in the Rochette, Courcelette streets, and on land near the Saint-Sacrament avenue and the railway.

According to spokesperson Alexandra Houde, the majority of the boreholes planned on the southern bank is finished or in the process of being.

This campaign continues until September. The duration of interventions varies between one and six days per site. The locations are chosen to limit the impacts on the environment and traffic, supports the ministry.

This operation takes place within the framework of an engineering support contract of $ 46.2 million which was granted earlier this year.

In June, the government unveiled a new version of its third link, which provides a bridge in the cables above the river and a tunnel in the Quebec hill.

Two scenarios are being studied, either to pass it through the Robert-Bourassa motorway or by boulevard Pierre-Bertrand.
