How do you know if you are one of the lucky ones?

At the moment, there are almost 7 billion euros that sleep at the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations. And maybe you are beneficiary? To find out, RMC Conso explains how to do it.

You may be, without knowing it, beneficiary of a certain sum of money. Indeed, nearly seven billion euros, forgotten by the beneficiaries, sleep at the moment at the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC).

These funds come from inactive accounts: bank accounts, employee savings products, life insurance contract, temporary provident health contract, capitalization vouchers, etc.

According to the law, when no operation has been registered on these accounts for ten years, the funds are transferred to the Caisse des Dépôts where they are kept for 20 years. The not claimed sums are then paid to the state after 30 years of inactivity.

1,573 euros on average

But how do you know if you are concerned? In January 2017, the CDC launched the Ciclade online site, one year after the entry into force of a 2014 law imposing financial establishments to identify inactive bank accounts each year.

The objective, to help individuals find funds from accounts and non -claimed contracts. And for that, nothing could be simpler. The approach is completely free and only takes a few minutes.

Just go to the site, no registration is required. You click on “Launch my search”. Then, you will have to enter your information or that of the targeted person: name, first name, date of birth, nationality etc.

As soon as you have filled everything, click “Validate my search” and you will get the result. Regarding us, no staggering inheritance on the horizon. Hopefully you will be more likely than us.

“For some, it will be a few cents, a few tens of euros. But for others, it can be much more than that. It can be tens of thousands of euros,” said Marie Rialland, deputy director of Moneyvox, media specialized in money.

Since 2016, the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations has conveyed more than 9 billion euros via this mechanism. Last year, 94,000 beneficiaries used it for a sum of 1,573 euros on average. And you? To have a clear heart, simply launch your search.
