“In a more thoughtful way”: almost 50% of vacation in winter sports reserved in addition to last year

This peak of reservations is not only linked to promotions for early reservations, but also to future carnival holidays, also called relaxation leave. In Flanders, they will take place from Saturday February 14 to Sunday February 22, while in French -speaking Belgium, they will extend from this same February 14 to Sunday March 1.

Next year, the starting week on February 14 will coincide with the holiday periods from neighboring countries, which was not the case this year. “People realize that the number of rooms available may decrease if more people go on vacation in the mountains at the same time,” analyzes Piet Demeyere.

Increased demand also makes the spring period more expensive, which encourages people to book earlier. “Above all, we note that January is becoming more and more popular,” said Martine Langerak for Sunweb. The Christmas holidays and the month of January, when the ski season is still starting to start, in fact gain popularity, which is explained in particular by the higher cost during the carnival holidays.

According to TUI, Finland is also more and more often on the list of favorite destinations for Belgian skiers. France and Austria, however, remain the most popular destinations, while Italy also experiences a boom. Six ski resorts will host the Winter Olympic Games and the other Italian stations will therefore have to welcome other travelers.
