In China, humanoid robots take control of shops

On August 8, 2025, Beijing vibrated with the opening of the Mall robot, a shopping center entirely dedicated to robots. This unprecedented concept confirms China’s ambition to rise to the rank of world leader in technological innovation. Faced with an aging population and major economic challenges, this project could well turn our daily life with the machines.

A place like no other dedicated to robotics

In the heart of Beijing, the Mall robot stands out for its specialization in the robot trade. There is an impressive range of automata, ranging from humanoid robots to robot dogs, without forgetting the robotic arms. These products are intended for both businesses and individuals, in order to make these technologies more accessible.

The robots on display are not only there to be sold. They put themselves in various roles, as a pharmacist, butler, server, musician, cashier or even footballer. However, if these demonstrations are stunning, you should know that these machines do not yet work in total autonomy and that they struggle to accomplish certain household chores or to find their way in unknown environments.

Complete services and affordable prices

The Mall robot is not limited to the sale of robots. It also offers a complete after-sales service and the sale of spare parts. Very soon, a rental option will be implemented, allowing a greater number to test these robots without having to engage a large sum.

On the price side, there is something for all budgets. The most affordable model is marketed from 238 euros, while high -end models can cost several hundred thousand euros. This tariff diversity makes it possible to reach different segments of the robot market and to open the door to a varied audience.

China shows the way in robotics

The opening of the Mall robot is part of a national plan aimed at encouraging the use of robots by the general public. Even if the sale of robots for individuals is not a new idea in China – with pioneers like the Unitree company, which notably offers H1 models to 86,000 euros, G1 at 13,000 euros and R1 for just over 5,000 euros – this shopping center marks a decisive step towards mass adoption.

China is focusing on industrial robotics to meet the challenges of an aging population and seeks to stand out from the United States in this technological sector. By multiplying events on the theme of robotics, such as the World Ai Conference in Shanghai or the World Robotics Conference which also takes place in August 2025 in Beijing, the country clearly affirms its ambition internationally.

An international meeting for robotic sport

In parallel with commercial and industrial advances, Beijing also welcomed the very first World Humanoid Robot Games on August 15, 2025. This event brings together 280 teams from 16 countries, including Italy, Germany, Portugal and the United States. Football matches between robots promise great emotions and attract a large audience.
