In consultation: the economy supports the package of agreements between Switzerland and the EU

Economiesuisse and the Swiss employers’ Union (UPS) support the package of agreements negotiated with the European Union (EU). They require an implementation that takes into account the needs of companies. One of the measures to protect the labor market is rejected.

The Swiss-EU agreements are currently in the consultation phase until October 31. It is planned to modify 32 Swiss laws, 12 of which will undergo significant changes. Parliament must seize the file in 2026.

The economy and the bosses believe that agreements are a solid element to stabilize and develop the bilateral way. The implementation in Swiss legislation should make it possible to guarantee both optimal access to the EU market and competitive framework conditions for the Swiss economic place.

The flexibility of the labor market must also be preserved. Most of the measures agreed between the social partners are supported with the exception of only one, intended to protect workers’ representatives against layoffs. Applied to companies with more than 50 workers, this provision had been added by the Federal Council.

The economy finally supports the safeguard clause in immigration. This must be applied strictly and its modalities examined in depth, with the participation of the social partners.
