“What is the idea?” What is the project? ». Like this 30-year-old, some wondered, this Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the start of the Brest general assembly of the “Indine” movement. This movement was born this summer on the Internet, around the slogan “Let’s block everything”. “This is what we must discuss here,” replied Annaël, one of the activists who launched the call for the rally in Brest. “See what we can do on Wednesday September 10 and organize so that things can last.”
About 30 people exchanged for two hours, in the shade of the Halles of Kerinou, in Brest. Several political or union activists on the left, but also people, young or not, who are preparing to experience their first social movement. The main claims relate to budgetary austerity, in particular the project to abolish two holidays mentioned by François Bayrou.
“The challenge is to massify the movement”
The initial idea of confining oneself on September 10 did not convince the Brest activists. “I believe in blocking as a central element to trigger a movement,” argued Ludo
activist in his thirties, who participated in the movement of yellow vests. The idea of blocking strategic axes to disturb the economy was mentioned, such as “putting pressure on local elected officials”. Another activist believes: “There will be blocking actions but there will also be many other things”.
Holiday collages, which refer to a group on the signal application, must intensify. Taps are scheduled for late August and early September in front of family allowances (CAF), employment centers, schools or supermarkets. A new general assembly will be organized on Wednesday September 3 in Brest, at 7 p.m., in the Halles de Kerinou. “The challenge is to massify the movement,” said Annaël.
