Michel Cardin and Stephen A. White promoted to Canada

The leaders of the University of Moncton are proud to confirm that two members of his university community. Michel Cardin and Stephen A. White, are among the most recent appointments to Canada.

Recall that the identity of the recipients was recently revealed by the Governor General of Canada, Mary Simon. In addition. the distinction of member of the Order of Canada (CM) pays tribute to people whose exceptional services have had a significant impact within a community, a group or in a specific field of activity.

As for Mr. Cardin, he carved out an international reputation as a music, speaker, interpreter, musicologist and producer.

His passion and his unwavering commitment to the training of students actively contributes to the influence of our institution.

For his part, Mr. White. an emeritus genealogist and former researcher at the Center for Anselme-Chiasson Acadian Studies of the University of Moncton, is appointed member of the Order of Canada with honorary distinction. This is a recognition reserved for people who are not a Canadian citizen. but whose achievements have had a remarkable impact in the country.

Mr. White has devoted more than 35 years of career to document, preserve and radiate the Acadian genealogy. His rigorous michel cardin stephen a. white work. has made it possible to build a unique database on the origins and history of Acadian families. He retired in 2024. leaving behind a scientific and cultural heritage of invaluable value for the Acadian people and for the whole country.

The Rector. Vice-Chancellor of the University of Moncton, Dr Denis Prud’homme, says that the university is extremely proud to see two members of its community honored by one of the highest honorary distinctions in Canada.

“MM. Cardin and White continue to contribute to the influence of our university, here as elsewhere in Canada, “he said.

The new members of the Order will be officially invested in a ceremony which will be held on a later date. during which they will receive michel cardin stephen a. white their badge.

The University of Moncton is delighted to see two of its members thus honored in such a prestigious setting. a recognition that highlights the excellence that animates the institution and the lasting impact of those who contribute to it.
