Monika Rühl: “Economiesuisse supports the new package of chords” with the EU – RTS.CH

Guest of the morning on Friday, Monika Rühl, director general of Economiesuisse, expresses clear support for the package of agreements concluded between Switzerland and the European Union. According to her, this compromise makes it possible to “stabilize the bilateral path”, while preserving Swiss sovereignty.

“With the Swiss employers’ union, we support this package,” said Monika Rühl, welcoming the work of negotiators. “This is a good agreement, important for Switzerland,” comments the director of Economiesuisse. A press release in this sense must be published after the press conference provided in the morning by the employers’ union and economiesu.

For Monika Rühl, the relationship with the EU – neighbor and first commercial partner in Switzerland – must remain solid. “We need good cooperation with her,” said the RTS guest.

Better cooperation, without loss of sovereignty

It also highlights the concrete benefits of the package, “for example in the fields of research, innovation and electricity”, where “good access to the market” is planned.

Faced with criticisms, especially those of the economist Beat Kappeler who evoked a weakening of Swiss sovereignty, Monika Rühl replies: “It is simply false. We remain sovereign, we keep our privileges and our semi-direct democracy.”

And to conclude: “You have to move forward.” This package is crucial “to stabilize a bilateral route which is dear to us”.
